Fred Reynold's Biography                       

Professional Basketball Player                                                   1984 to 1993

-       Various Professional Teams - 2nd round NBA draft choice (#43): Washington Bullets

-       Played professional basketball on teams in U.S. and other countries to include France, Switzerland, Spain, Holland, Argentina, Israel, Belgium, and the Philippines.  Led all French players in scoring in 1988-89 with 37 point-per-game average.  Selected to all league teams every year.  "My excellent leadership and athletic basketball skills enabled my teams to win 2 league championships."

 

SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT/RECOGNITION

-       Played for Legendary Coach Don Haskins: 1979 – 1984 (click for video)

-       Elected to “Men of Mines”

-       Member of (3) NIT post season UTEP teams and 1 NCAA post season team           (highest National rank (#5) since 1966 National Championship team)

-       Elected Past President of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity

-       Doctor Amoric Causa: Volunteer Award for outstanding contributions via              anti-drug presentations to local El Paso elementary and high school classes

-       Selected to All Western Athletic Conference Team (2 years)

-       Elected captain of UTEP University basketball team

-       Named to Associated Press All-American Team

-       Selected to USA Pan American Team and won gold medal

-       Selected to USA World Games team and won silver medal

-       Participated in U.S. Olympic Trials 1984

-       Named Most Valuable Player of East/West All Star Game for college seniors

-       Selected Director of French National Youth Sports Program

-       Distinguished member of University of Texas at El Paso Alumni Organization

-       Member of the El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame

 

OUTSIDE ACTIVITIES

-       Member of Heart to Heart Foundation

-       Conducted numerous youth basketball camps in El Paso area and have                been coaching youth basketball for 10 years (YMCA/City league /AAU)

-       Have coached numerous league, regional and national championship teams

-       Youth Enrichment Seminar: assist in sponsoring job seminars for                          underprivileged youth

-       Participated in yearly Yvonne Richardson Benefit Basketball Game and                  Coach’s Clinic

-       Participated in Dentist’s Benefit Game whose proceeds go to providing                  dental care for underprivileged children.
